Urea is a white granular crystalline compound with oblique and rhombic shape. Sp. Gr. 1.335. It will decompose if the temperature is higher than m. P. It can soluble in water, ammonia, ethyl alcohol and benzene, insoluble in ether and chloroform. The aqueous solution appears faint alkaline characteristic.
Urea is mainly used as fertilizer. It can also used as forage for animals. It is the raw materials for the plastic materials, pharmaceutical industry, foodstuff industry, farm pesticide and resins.
