Physical and Chemical Properties:
The pure product is white powder or coagulate particle containing 34.95% of nitrogen. Its sp. Gr is 2.3. Mp. 11800C. The industrial product is grey-black powder for containing carbon. It has some smell such as calcium carbide and ammonia. It is slightly soluble in water appearing alkaline characteristic. The industrial powder may stimulate the human body.

Uses:
Calcium cyanamide may be used as fertilizer. Weedicide, sterilizing agent, insecticide and cotton defoliant. It is an important raw material in organic chemical industry to produce dicyandiamide, sodium cyanide thio-urea and farm insecticides etc.
